Hey, do you want a toothpick?

DRIVE!...DRIVE, DRIVE, DRIVE!! I love this movie! This movie moved me, man. I haven't seen a movie with so much style, yet so much substance to back it up in a long time. I don't know how else to express my admiration for something other then to draw it, so here's my take. I think I'll take it in to color. I like sketching in blue....everything looks better in blue.

I saw the posters for the movie and didn't really feel they captured the spirit of the movie. Especially the DVD cover!  That was god awful.
More blog posts coming soon!

Hi, how are you?

Hey everybody!
Long time no post. Well my mind has just been a little preoccupied for the last couple of months, but I have been drawing! So here's just a few little things I've been up to since my last post. Mostly super heroes, what can I say, I love em'!!! I don't have to justify myself to you! Whatever, whatever! You don't know me! Pssh that's your opinion!

I call this illustration "Hidden in Plain Sight." You know most people think Superman's disguise is ridiculous, but if you really think about it, it's kinda genius.  Think about it. Who would even think that a guy like Superman would even have a secret identity? And in this day and age everyone is so preoccupied with their own music, smart phones, and everything else, who really notices strangers in public. Especially the mild mannered type.

Just the preliminary roughs to a Super Girl sketch for fun. I kinda just start with a basic shape or interesting line and just see where the drawing takes me.

The above sketch refined a little. I made up this costume for the Maid of Might (yes, that is her nickname! haha). I wanted to blend some Super Girl pre New 52, New 52, and Power Girl elements into this one. I don't just love Superman, I love the whole Super family! And yes, that includes Comet the Super Horse....

And back to Superman. I was experimenting with different coloring styles and I actually quite like how this one turned out. Gotta have the underwear bro.

The Dark Knight! Pencils(or should I say digital inks? You know what I mean!) Notice how I forgot to put a Bat signal on his chest. haha
Experimenting with another coloring technique. Didn't really like it. Gave up on this one half way.

I did a couple movie posters just for fun (and I was hoping for a potential show)  of some of my favorite movies.  Trying to capitalize on this whole minimalist movie poster trend. I don't know if it's really me.
Another poster with a different style. It kinda bled into my comic style. I'm always playing around with different styles. Just to keep things interesting. ;P
PS.  If you haven't seen this movie, WATCH IT! So funny and great satire.
Thought I should throw in a thumbnail. Giant starring James Dean. Maybe I'll finish it at some point. I was thinking a vectored, heavy geometric shapes one for this one. We'll see.
This is for a personal project of mine. Still keeping it pretty close to the chest, but I hope to show you more in the future.

This is also for the same project. All I'm going to say is that it's for a graphic novel. More info later, stay tuned!!
Thanks for checking out my blog.

(500) Days of Spider and Hellbound Heroes

Hey Everybody! So it's my first post of the year. Whooo! A lot of things have been brewing and hopefully we'll see where that takes me. But first I'd like to say a big thank you to the good folks at Furious Theatre Company. I just wrapped my first job for them, creating backgrounds and an original graphic novel all based on the stage play NOgoodDEED by Matt Pelfrey. If any of you guys ever read this, I just want to say thank you so much for everything. I am truly humbled and forever indebted to you for taking a chance on me.

Well here are just a few things I've been tinkering with.

This is just for fun. It's my little take on the up and coming Amazing Spiderman movie directed by Marc Webb (HA! Webb...thats too perfect.) also the director of the much swooned over 500 Days of Summer. I think this movies going to be well...amazing. Love the cast, I tried to get as many of them in there as possible (and a few fan favorites :P).
Boy meets Spider. Boy falls into incredible responsibility.  Boy's Uncle gets shot.
I usually don't post things until I'm finished but HEY thats what a blogs for right? Definitely going to finish this one.

So this is a portion of the graphic novel I did for Furious Theatre Company. It's called Hellbound Heroes and its basically about people who were thrown into the spotlight because of a good deed they committed and then buckle under the pressure, eventually becoming super heroes who try to undo good deeds. Still with me? Trust me, it's hilarious.
One soldier is overwhelmed by the pressure of a hero...

I did all the lay-outs, pencils, inks, and colors for this project.
It was 22 pages long and a lot of work, but extremely rewarding.

After her baptism of sorts, Amy Sparks is transformed into Silver Star.

Long story short, they eventually run into this guy.
I've also been retouching some old projects. I did this a couple years ago in a perspective drawing class. Its a psychedelic/ post-apocalyptic concert venue.

No blog entry would be the same with out some nod to Superman.
Red Undies for life!

Aww yes! This is something I'm pretty excited about. It's still a secret, but more info about it will come soon. Definitely in the next 2 weeks. Stylistically its a little different then what I normally do, but its a lot of fun to draw. This is just a little teaser to whet your appetites. hehe...

What could this possibly be?!
Okay so this was kind of a wordy blog entry. Thanks for sticking around and checking this out. I got a busy month ahead of me; going to Wonder-Con in 2 weeks and hopefully to Comic-Con in July to get my portfolio reviewed! See you next time!
